Aetna (US)
The Medical Benefits Plan (MBP) provides coverage to Fund retirees and their eligible dependents at all times and anywhere in the world. Aetna International administers all benefits for MBP participants living anywhere in the world, including medical, dental and prescription drug benefits. Aetna International offers a variety of services and information through an online member portal and 24-hour customer service.

Registering to use the Aetna Navigator is very simple and will require only your Aetna ID number shown on your ID card.
Go to the Aetna Navigator log-in page.
Select First Time User
Select I am an Aetna member" and "I am the subscriber, primary member or employee" and hit "Next".
Complete the personal information and ID number fields. (NOTE: MBP participants must use their MBP ID number as Aetna does not maintain U.S. Social Security numbers for IMF participants.)
Provide an e-mail address, user name, password and security question.

The Medical Benefits Plan (MBP) provides coverage to Fund retirees and their eligible dependents at all times and anywhere in the world. For those permanently living outside the U.S. some have chosen Cigna to administer benefits including medical, dental and prescription drug benefits. Cigna offers a variety of services and information through an online member portal and 24-hour customer service in several languages.
Please be advised that Cigna will not be able to process claims until January 26th. This is a standard delay when switching to a new claim processors. We expect a return to normal processing times after that date.

Medicare
In 2011, the Fund started incentivizing participation in Medicare Part B for eligible individuals by providing reimbursement of 75% of standard Medicare Part B premiums. Effective January 1, 2021, any retiree or dependent who participates in the Fund’s Medical Benefit Plan (MBP) and becomes eligible for Medicare Part B on or after that date is required to enroll in Medicare Part B. Reimbursement is provided by the Fund through P&A (a third-party organization) for the full monthly premium, i.e., standard premium, plus any Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA). Benefits are coordinated with those that are provided under the MBP.

Important Announcement Regarding Health Services
Please note that retirees do not have access to any services provided by the Health and Safety Directorate (HSD). However, retirees may select a primary care provider from the Medstar Health Clinic located at the World Bank for their routine medical care. The clinic can then provide services such as annual physicals, allergy injections, preventive care, labs, vaccinations etc. In addition, retirees who do not receive primary care at the Medstar Health Clinic may obtain consultation and treatment in the case of an acute, non-emergency illness or injury. Services provided by the Medstar clinic are covered by the MBP through Aetna.

Coverage After Retirement
If you are receiving an immediate pension or are eligible for a deferred pension and you have been insured under the GLI Plan for at least 5 years at the time of retirement, your coverage will continue as follows:
- The Fund will provide life insurance coverage at two-times your final net annual salary until age 65. If you had not elected optional life insurance coverage, the Fund will provide life insurance coverage at one-times your net final annual salary until age 65.
- At age 65, the benefit payable under your life insurance will be reduced to one times your last annual net salary or $50,000, whichever is less.
- At age 70, the benefits payable under your life insurance will be reduced to $25,000; and
- At age 75, the benefits payable under your life insurance will be reduced to $15,000.
Life insurance lost through reductions may be continued at your cost. MetLife will contact you with details at the time of the reduction.
Aetna (Non-US)
The IMF's Group Long-Term Care Insurance (LTC) Plan was closed to new applicants January 1, 2012 by the insurer, the John Hancock Life Insurance Company.
